wedding day recap + marriage talk
We had our ceremony and reception on Nick’s parents’ property in Cheney, Washington. (:
wedding day timeline
We wanted to keep everything as chill as possible, so the girls showed up to the house around 10:00 or 11:00 to get their hair and make-up done.
The boys showed up a couple hours later, and they – along with some other family members – had to help re-set-up the decorations that we had put up last night because the wind was knocking everything down.
Around 3:00, Alex escorted me to our photographer (a family-friend) who was waiting with Nick and his best friend for our first look pictures.
After posing for pictures with only our two best friends, we started family pictures – which took a while because we both have pretty big families. (;
Pictures were finished up around 4:30-4:45, so we had a few minutes to relax and do some last-minute preparation for the 5:00 ceremony.
The ceremony was short and sweet – just like we wanted it to be – so after that, it was time to eat!
We also played the newlywed game, did a bouquet and garter toss, danced, and mingled.
Around 10:00, it was time for our exit! We had bought glow-in-the-dark balloons for everyone to wave around as we left, so we ran through a tunnel of balloons and our favorite people before hitting the road. (:
Our wedding party walked to Yellow; my dad and I walked down the aisle to The One, and we all walked back down the aisle after the ceremony to Without You. ((:
Nick and I shared our first dance to Wake Me, and we danced with our parents to It Won’t Be Like This For Long.
Our wedding party consisted of all our siblings and my best friend, Alex. We wanted to keep it small and simple just because that’s more our style, but it worked perfectly for us!
We invited probably around 75 people, but only about 40-50 were able to make it. However, it was super nice to not feel so overwhelmed with guests; it was just the right size for us. (:
favorite part of the wedding?
N: I think the vows. That’s where I got most emotional – that, and watching you come down the aisle.
M: My favorite part was either the ceremony or playing the newlywed game (shoutout to Alex for that!).
any wedding nerves?
N: Yeah, I was freaking out. Like forty-five minutes before pictures, I started getting really nervous that stuff was gonna go wrong, or I wasn’t gonna be able to say the right stuff. I don’t know, I was just getting really anxious.
Jeremiah had to, like, calm me down, and then it was pretty good for, like, the last 10 minutes. But I started pacing and stuff before that.
*Marissa here. I’d like to add that he was minorly freaking out after pictures, before the ceremony. I was with him at that time, and I don’t think I had ever seen him that nervous before.
M: Not really. I was super excited-nervous, but that’s it.
what were you most excited for before the wedding?
N: I think it was probably the ceremony, the cake, and just getting to be with you.
M: Probably… the ceremony, getting all dressed up, and getting to be with Nicholas. (:
favorite part of marriage so far?
N: Getting to live with you and spend even more time with you. It’s not much different than before, but it feels better.
M: Same as him. Also just knowing that we’re really a team, so wherever life takes us, we’re going together. (:
Thanks for joining us for our wedding day recap + marriage talk!
