Tourist Guide to Waverly, Iowa

come visit me!

When Alex made plans to fly out and visit me in Iowa, I immediately started brainstorming plans!  And I want to share all the things we did, where we ate, where we stayed, and more – just in case anyone wants to visit this random town in Iowa someday. (;

what we did

Shopping

There are so many adorable shops in the small downtown area of Waverly – perfect for visitors and residents alike!  I had never been into any of the shops, so Alex and I experienced them for the first time together.  We LOVED it!  We also couldn’t pass up the opportunity to go to all the stores in Cedar Falls (especially because Alex had never been to 5 Below)!  Our favorite stops were…

  • 5 Below
  • Aldi
  • Target (obviously)
  • Love and Lace
  • Renewed Purpose

Movie Nights

Looking for a fun, relaxing, and FREE activity to do while traveling?  Watch a movie or binge a TV show!  We did lots of that this trip; some of our favorite watches were…

  • YOU
  • New Girl
  • Disturbia
  • The Stepfather

Fall Photoshoot

There are tons of great places to take plenty of pictures, but I took Alex to one of my favorite spots in town… the bridge over Cedar River next to the Nestle factory.  This spot is SO gorgeous around sunset – or any time of day – but I love walking or running there, and honestly, I might just go chill there some day (if you see me just sitting on the bridge one day, no you didn’t).

Tour of Wartburg

Alex really wanted me to take her on a tour of Wartburg, so we walked all around campus and I showed her the library, the gym, and, of course, we had to check out the bookstore… spent lots of money there. (;

where we ate

Food is the most important part of any trip, right?  Of course it is.  Luckily, we found some DELICIOUS spots, so I want to share them with you!!

  • Culver’s
  • Raising Cane’s
  • East China
  • The Mixing Bowl
  • Dunkin’

where we stayed

For most of the trip, we stayed in an Airbnb in Cedar Falls – super cheap and actually pretty cute.  The bed was very comfy, the little couch was so cute, the TV was nice (shoutout to the stranger’s Netflix account we used), and it was overall a nice space.

more ideas

Here are some more ideas for your trip to Waverly! (:

  • Scenic walk or drive
  • Saturday morning farmer’s market
  • Wartburg sporting event
  • Check out a golf course
  • Grab some ice cream at 4 Queens
  • Visit a pumpkin patch (if you’re here in the fall)
  • Hang out near/in the river (if you’re here in the spring/summer)

Sharing is caring!
