Fun Facts About Me

fun facts about me

Hey everyone!  I thought it would be fun to share a few fun facts about myself since you probably don’t know a whole lot about me.  If anything I share interests you, stick around and read some of my other posts!

i have two tattoos

On my 18th birthday, I got a small ocean wave tattoo on the upper left side of my ribcage.  About six months later, I got a “Jeremiah 29:11” tattoo on my right forearm.  I really want to get more – hopefully one soon – but I need to finalize the design and placement.

i was hit by a car while running

This is, by far, the craziest thing that has ever happened to me!  At the beginning of my senior year of high school, I was on a run around my neighborhood – pretty typical for me.  I was about a quarter mile away from my house when I saw a car run the stop sign at the corner ahead of me, and before I knew it, the driver was in someone’s side yard coming straight at me.

Thankfully, I was immediately helped by the nearby neighbors, and after getting examined by the police and medical professionals, it was determined that I would only need to get stitches for a cut on my knee.

i have never been outside of the united states

I love traveling, but I’ve only been to places in the U.S.  The one country I really really want to visit is New Zealand!  I love learning about new places, and it’s definitely interesting to see how different regions of the U.S. are from one another, but I really want to experience that in another country.

i was born and raised in washington but attend school in iowa

I know, both are pretty random places – especially since I’m from the side of Washington that no one knows about – but I really like both!  Nick (my husband) chose to go to school in Iowa after he graduated in 2019, but I didn’t think I would end up there too.  However, I ended up finding a school I really liked about an hour away from him and went there for a year before we got married and I decided to transfer to his school.

We have no idea where we’ll end up after graduation, but I think we might move around for a while… I’m excited to see what we end up doing!

i prefer tv shows over movies

For as long as I can remember, I have preferred watching TV shows as opposed to movies.  Don’t get me wrong, I love a good movie (especially at the theatre!), but I am almost always more drawn to shows.

My favorite show of all time is Grey’s Anatomy (basic, I know), but I also enjoy watching shows within the Bachelor franchise (also basic), anything true crime, Schitt’s Creek, Bridgerton, and more.

i’ve ran 4 half marathons

My first half marathon was part of my 13th birthday present – I wanted to run 13 miles when I was 13.  (Likewise, my goal is to run a marathon by the time I’m 26.)  I ran it with my dad, and after the first one, we ran 2 more together before I even started high school.  My latest half marathon was done this past March with Nick biking alongside me.  I really enjoy longer runs (not so much during the summer), so having goals of running half and full marathons the past few years has been really fun and motivating for me.

i had three pet turtles

When I was in high school, I absolutely loved turtles and wanted one so bad!  One day, my grandpa found one in his yard and picked it up for me.  I bought a tank and all the supplies I would need for my new pet and was so excited to finally have my own turtle!  A while later, my grandpa found another one, so soon enough I had 2!  And – you guessed it – about a year later, my grandpa found a baby (so cute and tiny!!), so I had a whole family of turtles!

Unfortunately, the baby turtle died last summer, but the other 2 (named Avery and Sage) are now living with one of my cousins who always wanted to look at and hold them when he would visit us.

i have trypophobia

Trypophobia is the fear/dislike of small holes that are close together (for example, a beehive).  I didn’t even realize I had it until a few years ago when I was shopping with my friends and we found something that had a pattern of small holes all over it.  Upon seeing it, I felt shivers and just a general dislike for the pattern.  I explained this feeling to my friends, and they told me about trypophobia, which I hadn’t heard of until then.  I looked into it a bit online and discovered that I definitely have it.  Not everything that is patterned with small holes gives me the chills, but a lot of things do.  For me, it’s usually the objects that have smaller holes that are really closely packed together that bug me, but it can also depend on the day.

i got married at 19

Crazy, I know!  I was not expecting to get married until after college, but about halfway through my freshman year, I was feeling really antsy.  I didn’t want to wait another 3.5 years just so that we could be done with school… I was ready to commit to my person and officially start our life together (we had been dating for over 3 years already)!  I’m so glad we decided to go ahead and get married when we did; it felt so right, and we are super duper happy with our decision! (:

i’m a golfer

I know, I know, this probably is not much of a fun fact because everyone thinks golf is boring. (; I used to think the same thing until I tried it!  I ended up loving it so much that I golfed for 3 years in high school and 1 year in college.  Now, I just do it for fun and on my own time, but I still enjoy every second of it. (:
