Allow me to introduce myself...
I’m Marissa: a wife, college student, crazy dog mom, nature lover, blogger, and holistic health coach.
My husband and I are both originally from Washington state (we’re middle school sweethearts!), but we’re currently living and going to school in Iowa. We’re both on track to graduate in the summer of 2023, and then our plan is to move to Florida!
I love traveling, going on walks, reading, listening to music and podcasts, swimming, running, and being outdoors (ESPECIALLY at the beach). (:
How did I get here?
Ever since I was in 8th grade, I’ve struggled with body image issues, which eventually led to me developing disordered eating and exercise habits. And although I was always incredibly interested in all things health and wellness, I didn’t always have a healthy relationship with the wellness world.
The major turning point for me came at the beginning of my senior year. I was freshly 18, taking college classes, and enjoying my newfound love for cheerleading. I was feeling pretty good for the most part, but I knew one thing needed to change. My mindset.
Lucky for me, the Universe works in mysterious ways…
One Sunday evening, I was out for a job in my small-town neighborhood when I was hit by a car. My shins hit the front bumper, and I rolled right over the hood, landing on the side of the road a few feet away from the vehicle. I was shaken up (obviously), and I had some nice battle scars on my elbows and knees (one that did require stitches), but miraculously, I had walked away in nearly perfect shape.
This was the moment my mindset did a complete 180. Instead of constantly picking apart every feature of my body and comparing it to every other girl I saw, I began to feel so much gratitude for it.
Of course, the story doesn’t end there. It’s been a constant uphill battle of working on my mindset, unlearning old thought patterns, and stepping out of my comfort zone to get to where I am now. And the work ain’t over yet, baby!
Ever since I started my journey of healing, I knew I wanted to share it with other young women who could relate. To encourage, inspire, and hopefully make someone laugh. Now I get to do exactly that AND MORE as a health coach!
What is my role as a health coach?
In short, my role as a health coach is to be your biggest cheerleader.
But to get more specific, I’m here to help women make massive mindset shifts in order to improve their…
- body image
- relationship with food & exercise
I struggled with disordered eating, low self-esteem, terrible body image, and an incredibly negative mindset for YEARS.
I was always…
- trying to make my body smaller
- stressed about food
- doing workouts I hated
- beating myself up mentally
& so much more…
I’m here to show you that you CAN have a healthy relationship with food and exercise! You CAN feel confident in that outfit (you know the one I’m talking about)! You CAN have a life filled with more fun and less stress!
I know that it’s possible because I’ve been in your shoes. And now I get to help others who are struggling right now.
